The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company will expand its US portfolio with the opening of a new resort in Southern California’s scenic Rancho Mirage region on 15 May 2014.
The new Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage is around two hours from Los Angeles and San Diego and is surrounded by the Santa Rosa Mountain range, offering views of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley.
The property will include 244 resort rooms and suites, residences, a two-story luxury spa, over 30,000ft² of indoor/outdoor meeting space and destination dining with sweeping valley views.
Ritz-Carlton Western region vice president Chris Gabaldon said that a luxury experience in this region of California has not only been greatly anticipated by the group but even more so by brand loyalists worldwide.
"This storied property will deliver a highly sensory respite that is culturally and generationally relevant, offering rich experiences for the leisure and business traveller alike," Gabaldon added.
The new hotel’s design will complement its desert setting by featuring natural elements of stone, wood and fire that reflect the local landscape, colours and culture.
Dining venues at the property will include a visual exhibition kitchen at State Fare Bar + Kitchen and a restaurant offering steak, seafood and fine wine called The Edge.
Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage general manager Doug Watson said, "Our ladies and gentlemen are truly honoured to represent the community of Rancho Mirage and become the desired destination for establishing new traditions and memory making."
Amenities at the resort will include cliff-side swimming and serenity pools, a destination spa in the Palm Springs Valley, curated golf and tennis experiences with premier courses and clubs, as well as cultural and recreational activities including over 20 miles of hiking/biking trails and polo grounds.
The Ritz-Carlton currently operates 86 hotels in the Americas, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Caribbean while more than 30 hotel and residential projects are under development worldwide.
