Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has unveiled its new property at The Shard in London, UK, becoming the group’s 83rd hotel.
It is the group’s first hotel in the UK and its third in Europe, following the opening of Shangri-La Hotel, Paris and Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul in 2010 and 2013, respectively.
The new Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London is located in the tallest building in Western Europe on floors 34 to 52.
The first luxury property to open south of the River Thames, the hotel is conveniently located in close proximity to the City of London and offers some of the largest rooms in the city, averaging more than 42m².
All 202 rooms are adorned with Chinese art reinterpreted in a modern, abstract way alongside a soothing colour scheme and mood lighting.
Additional amenities include the exclusive ‘Shangri-La Bed’ featuring patented body-contouring technology, marble-clad bathrooms with heated floors and Acqua di Parma.
Guests can savour locally sourced cuisine in the Ting restaurant, which serves Asian specialities and two unique afternoon teas in the lounge.
Láng is a patisserie and artisan deli on the ground floor, showcasing a selection of Shangri-La signature cakes and savouries for eat-in or take-away along with seasonal hampers.
Gong, London’s highest champagne and cocktail bar, will be opened on 19 May on level 52, which will also feature a 24hr gym and London’s highest infinity pool, to open this summer.
Three river-facing event spaces are available on level 34, which are connected to the sky lobby by staircase with a vista of St. Paul’s Cathedral and beyond.
The venues can accommodate ten to 140 people, and the entire 34th floor is available for a standing reception of up to 200 guests.
