Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has opened a new hotel, the Sule Shangri-La, Yangon, following a two-and-a-half year renovation of the Traders Hotel, Yangon in Myanmar.

Located on the Sule Pagoda Road near the 2,000 year-old pagoda, the hotel is situated in the city’s central business district.

The hotel has 484 refurbished guestrooms offering views of the city, river and Shwedagon Pagoda, along with flat-screen televisions, Wi-Fi, an all day room service, fine linens as well as marble bathrooms.

Sule Shangri-La, Yangon area general manager Philip Couvaras said it is exciting to introduce Shangri-La’s signature touches in such a desirable destination.

"We look forward to continuously providing our guests with new and personal experiences, and to help immerse visitors into the local culture," Couvaras added.

The lobby of Sule Shangri-La, Yangon features white columns and a staircase leading to an open balcony, and the property features a double-height lobby lounge with a tiered crystal chandelier.

Dining facilities at the hotel include Shangri-La’s signature Chinese restaurant, Summer Palace, with six private dining rooms serving Cantonese dim sum and authentic Chinese dishes.

The hotel also has Café Sule, offering international and Asian flavours; the Peacock Lounge, which acts as an informal meeting space; and the Gourmet Shop serving baked goods, snacks and beverages.

Amenities at the hotel include Health Club with an expanded space of over 850m² with fitness equipment, sauna, steam, massage rooms and an outdoor pool.

Sule Shangri-La, Yangon has three refashioned suites on the top floor, including the city’s largest Presidential suite.
