Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has unveiled plans to develop a new Aloft brand hotel in Adelaide, Australia.
The new 200-room Aloft Adelaide will be owned by local developer Sturt Land, a joint venture between construction group Tagara and Melbourne-based developer Colvid. The hotel will be designed by Woods Bagot and local landscape architects Oxigen.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Pacific regional vice-president Sean Hunt said: "We are thrilled to be expanding into south Australia for the first time with the signing of Aloft Adelaide.
"Adelaide is set for major growth over the next few years and we foresee significant business and leisure demand for innovative and design-led hotel options, such as Aloft."
Aloft Adelaide will include an indoor glass bottom rooftop pool, round-the-clock fitness centre with a rooftop running track and 500m² of flexible meeting space.
The meeting space in the property is said to compliment a rooftop bar and lounge overlooking the city, which is suitable for large, business and intimate gatherings. The new property will also feature W XYZ bar and signature restaurant space Re:fuel.
The new property, which will be near to the Adelaide Airport, is expected to be opened in early 2018.
It is part of phase two of the New Mayfield development, which is a mix of residential, retail and dining spaces, cycle-ways and an integrated village square with public art installations and water features.
