Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide plans to increase the presence of its Element brand in Florida, US, with the opening of a new property in Orlando.
The new Element Orlando North is slated to open in July 2015 as part of the restoration programme of Orlando Fashion Square located on Colonial Drive.
Element Orlando North, which is the brand’s third hotel in Florida, will be owned by a joint venture between UP Development, StaySharpe and LBK Hotel Ventures.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide North America development senior vice president Allison Reid said, "Starwood’s Element brand is experiencing rising demand in Florida and beyond, due to the enthusiasm of travellers who share its passion for modern, sustainable living."
The eight-storey hotel will be situated close to Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World Resort as well as the Orlando Executive Airport, the Amway Center, Baldwin Park, Thornton Park, Audubon Park, College Park, Winter Park and numerous golf courses.
The new hotel will have 151 rooms including one-bedroom suites featuring modular furniture, flat-screen televisions, large desks with open shelving and custom-designed closets as well as fully equipped kitchens and the signature Heavenly Bed.
Bathrooms at the property will be spa-inspired and feature a rain shower and dual-flush toilet, and the hotel will include an all-day fitness centre, an outdoor saline swimming pool, and a 977ft² meeting room with furnishings and technology to address social needs.
Starwood said that the Element brand mandates that all its properties pursue the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for high-performance buildings.
