Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has opened a new 200-room Westin hotel in the Jekyll Island, Georgia, US.

The five-storey property is owned by Jekyll Oceanfront Hotel (JOFH), a joint venture formed by real estate development Leon N Weiner & Associates and independent third-party hotel manager New Castle Hotels and Resorts.

The 8,750 cubic yards of concrete used in the construction were sourced from a plant in Brunswick, which is only 15 miles from the site. Westin’s brand room design specifications are 60% more sustainable than conventionally built guest rooms.
