Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) in partnership with real estate company Ambuja Neotia has opened a new Taj hotel in the Indian city of Kolkata in West Bengal state.

The property is the second Taj hotel in the city.

Taj City Centre New Town hotel features 137 rooms and ten suites, including suites with a private jacuzzi and other amenities.

IHCL managing director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal said: “We are excited to announce the second Taj hotel in Kolkata with the launch of Taj City Centre, New Town.

“Regarded as India’s intellectual, artistic and cultural capital, Kolkata is a dominant commercial hub of eastern India, and we remain committed to growing our presence in the city. This new opening further strengthens our partnership with the Ambuja Neotia Group.”

The hotel also offers various dining options including Shamiana, an all-day diner serving global cuisines; The Emperor’s Lounge, which has a collection of brews and bakes; and Wykiki, offering Asian cuisines in a semi-alfresco setting.

All the guests have access to the Taj City Centre’s all-natural Jiva Spa and swimming pool.

Besides, the hotel has six banquet halls that can cater to different event needs including conferences and social events.

The addition of the new property takes the number of hotels owned by IHCL under different brands in Kolkata to six, including the one that is currently under development.

Last month, IHCL opened its SeleQtions brand property in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.
